This airy, semi-evergreen shrub or small tree is native to west Texas and Mexico. The bi-lobed, gray-green leaves are shaped like little butterflies. Small, delicate white five-petaled flowers are produced from late spring to early summer. It is tolerant of sun and drought, but also handles part shade and ample moisture.
