About the Event

What makes a Japanese garden look like a Japanese garden?

Delve into the art of Japanese gardening with our Garden Workshop Series, led by our Garden Curator, Ben Schrepf. This series explores traditional techniques utilized in Japanese gardens whether in Japan or our desert climate.

This workshop will focus on essential pruning methods, techniques, and how pruning contributes to the effectiveness of the garden's design. Topics covered will include shearing, rejuvenation of overgrown plant material, hedges, and sukashi (thinning). Sukashi style pruning can be applied to all plant material and is an essential and extremely useful skill for gardeners of all types. Join us!
