About the Event
Step into the heart of Japanese tradition this New Year season with our Garden Curator, Ben Schrepf, as he unveils the art and symbolism behind Kadomatsu—the iconic "gate pines" that adorn entrances across Japan.
Discover the beauty and meaning of the three friends of winter: pine, bamboo, and plum, a trio known as Sho Chiku Bai, celebrated for their resilience and grace in the colder months. Their symbolism is woven into Japanese art and culture, offering a glimpse into the spirit of the season.
During this workshop, you’ll not only learn about the history and significance of Kadomatsu but also create your very own! Guided step by step by our curator, you’ll leave with a handcrafted piece of tradition to welcome prosperity and harmony into your home.
